“She called me back the same evening and walked my son and me through the whole summons. We stopped panicking.”

Criminal defense in Richmond
A charge is an accusation. How it ends is still open.
Delphine Corbin defends people charged with DUI, assault and theft in Richmond and the counties around it. She starts with the video, the report and the lab sheet, and tells you plainly what they show.

Three recent endings
Dismissed
First-offense DUI
The stop video showed a full stop at the light. Without a lawful reason for the stop, the breath test went too.

Not guilty
Assault and battery
A bench trial. A bystander's phone video matched our client's account of who swung first.

Reduced
Grand larceny to petit larceny
Restitution paid before the hearing and the value proved below the felony line. No jail.

The first meeting
Families come too. Bring the paperwork, and the questions.
Most people call the week of the arrest, often with a parent or partner beside them. The first meeting is an hour at the office on East Main, or a video call if that's easier.
We go through the summons, the bond paper and anything the officer handed over. You leave knowing the charge in plain words, the next date on the calendar, and what I'll ask the prosecutor for first.
What to bring
The summons or warrant
Bond or release papers
Any DMV notice

How the work goes
Four habits, and the case each one turned
Short promises are easy to make. Each of these comes with the case where it made the difference.
- DUI · 2025 · Sample matter
I get the video before the first hearing.
A driver stopped on Broad Street for "weaving." The dash camera showed her lane held for a full mile. Dismissed at the first trial date.
- Assault · 2024 · Sample matter
I go to the scene.
From the corner where the officer stood, a parked van hid the doorway. His account of the fight couldn't have been seen. Not guilty.
- DUI · 2024 · Sample matter
I read the lab sheet line by line.
The blood sample sat unrefrigerated for two days before testing, by the lab's own log. The result was kept out, and the charge was reduced to reckless driving.
- Theft · 2025 · Sample matter
I ask what the store actually lost.
The receipt put the goods under the felony amount once the returned items were counted. Charged as grand larceny, resolved as a misdemeanor with no jail.

Tell me the charge and the court date
Call the office or write a few lines. You'll hear back from Delphine, not a call center, with what happens next and what it costs.
If your court date is this week, say so first.
